Frequently Asked Questions
What is Cantilever?
Cantilever is a curated streaming service for independent music. We feature a small number of excellent albums at a time, each paired with contextual articles or reflections from the artists themselves. Slow down, listen deeply, and discover music in context.
How does it work?
Every two days we add a new album and rotate one out. Each album stays for one month. This rotation keeps the catalogue focused, ensures fair royalties for artists, and gives you a steady flow of new albums to listen to.
Why only a few albums?
We believe less is more. By focusing on a handful of albums, we can give them the attention they deserve and artists get a fairer share of royalties.
What if I want to hear more music by an artist?
Tap the "Discover" section of the article to find links to their other music and releases.
Can I save albums?
In a way — you can favourite an album to return to its article later. Once an album rotates off Cantilever, you won't be able to stream it here, but the "Elsewhere" section links to where you can listen or buy a physical copy. You can also download an album to play offline.
Can I listen to downloaded albums forever?
Unfortunately not. When an album is removed from our platform, it will also be automatically deleted from your downloads and will no longer be available for offline listening.
Who do you work with?
We partner with leading independent record labels and artists. We're based in London so many of our early partners are too. We're always open to new collaborations.
What devices can I use?
Cantilever is available on iOS, Android and web.
